If you want to forgive your mother and are having a hard time of it, change the story from:

“That shouldn’t have happened.” (resistance)

to “It happened.” (acceptance)

to “I learned something about myself.” (gratitude)

Notice if something shifts.

But only if you want to forgive. And it’s more than okay if you don’t. Don’t “should” yourself into it.
