Whether you’re into making resolutions (or not), setting goals (or not), choosing a word of the year (or not), creating a vision board (or not), intending to intend (or not), here is my wish for you in 2016:
That you understand and appreciate contrast.
To know that you sometimes have to feel down in order to feel up.
Or panic in order to feel calm.
That there can be contentment in all of it.
Even when it feels uncomfortable.
Even when you can’t quite put your finger on why it feels bad.
And so you remain quiet for a while.
You know that funks happen, with what seems like heavy, deadening permanence.
And then you lighten up and smile, as the fog of self-doubt and confusion lifts, once again.
And you trust.
You trust the contrast.
You trust yourself.
If you’re still doubting…
Take a deep breath.
Close your eyes.
Unlock your shoulders.
Open your eyes and soften your gaze.
And then of course, there’s Aretha and Carole.
Here’s to our next trip around the sun. Let’s DO this!
